\nNew Anti\u2010Bullying initiative by the District (see here: www.erasebullying.ca<\/a>)<\/span>
\n\u2022 Important to define what bullying is and is not.<\/span>
\n\u2022 Grant money has been made available and so our school is partnering with the community <\/span>center with some anti\u2010bullying activities to educate people about sharing, caring and building a <\/span>safe community. Hoping to include businesses, First Nations, politicians, police, etc.<\/span>
\n\u2022 Tentatively scheduled for late February (Feb. 27th is Anti\u2010Bullying Day)<\/span>
\n\u2022 Pink shirts for a week (1000 pink shirts and window decals will be ordered) Demonstrates that <\/span>we are a \u201ccommunity of kindness.” Shirts will be sold for $1.00 which will go towards a rally at <\/span>the community center.<\/span>
\n\u2022 Parent volunteers will be needed<\/span>

\n a. Treasurer\u2019s Report (Carolyn\u2019s email read by Amy Bronee in Carolyn\u2019s absence)<\/span>
\n\u2022 $7287.14 in General Account (the cheque for the entertainment books has not yet been cashed \u2010 <\/span>$1700)<\/span>
\n\u2022 $237.59 in Gaming Account<\/span>
\n\u2022 Still not received the quote for the message board. I will follow that up this week.<\/span>
\n\u2022 Emailed the TD bank manager requesting a meeting in January for corporate fundraising ideas.<\/span>

\n b. President\u2019s Report (Mercedes’ note read by Coral Forbes in Mercedes\u2019 absence)<\/span>
\n\u2022 BCTF presentations have been booked. Anti\u2010bullying workshop will be Feb 7th, 2013. Raising <\/span>Confident Boys and Girls will be April 11, 2013. Both workshops are being provided, free of <\/span>charge, by the BCTF. The presenter is Benula Larsen. Each workshop is approximately one <\/span>hour long.<\/span>
\n\u2022 Monthly Exec Meetings\u2010 It was agreed by the exec that regular monthly executive meetings <\/span>would be helpful. Proposal to have them the week before (on the Wednesday) the regular <\/span>PAC meeting. Thoughts? Vote?<\/span>
\nOutcome: Yes! Wednesday January 2nd\u2026where?<\/i><\/span>
\n\u2022 Louise Alvarez \u2010 I spoke with Louise about her request for scrapbook money and informed <\/span>her that we have a policy that her consumables are spent before she asks for more money. <\/span>She was agreeable to this and will request again in the spring.<\/span>
\n\u2022 Patti Parkhouse had asked the PAC and the school if we were interested in providing a letter <\/span>of support for the Banfield Orchard. Approved by exec\u2010 letter was written (thank you <\/span>Carolyn!) and provided to Patti. Joe also wrote a letter of support. Patti very appreciative of <\/span>the school and PAC\u2019s support.<\/span>
\n\u2022 Media Contact List has been created and distributed to the PAC exec (but available to <\/span>anyone who wants it) for promotion of PAC events\/request etc.<\/span>
\n\u2022 VCPAC Conference in Feb 2013 \u2010 it has been confirmed that our PAC will receive two free <\/span>tickets to the VCPAC conference in Feb. If there are more than two of us who want to go, <\/span>we should consider sponsoring the others, as parent education is important. Please note: I <\/span>(Mercedes!) want to go!!<\/span>
\n\u2022 Bulletin Board \u2010 I started the Bulletin Board take over (Shelley made up the PAC sign and I <\/span>covered it in blue). I haven\u2019t been able to make it look more fun\/fancy yet, but that is <\/span>coming and I am open to (and welcome) help\/suggestions etc!<\/span>
\n\u2022 Christmas Concert\u2010 need help with collecting cans of food and donations for Mustard Seed <\/span>(maybe a couple of people to be there before concert starts\u2010 5:45 or so?). We will also need <\/span>some big (but not too big that we can\u2019t carry if they are full of cans) boxes, gift wrapped to <\/span>look nice for the concert.<\/span>
\n\u2022 Met with Lisa Helps re: 4 way stop in front of the school. Lisa is talking with the city traffic <\/span>people.<\/span>

\n\u2022 VCPAC meeting was on Nov. 27th at Braefoot Elem.<\/span>
\n\u2022 Conference happening on Feb. 23rd at Spectrum and will cost $70 before Feb. 1st and $90 after.<\/span>
\n\u2022 Colquitz Middle School wants an increase to the playground budget and will be sending a letter <\/span>to the District. Cloverdale to follow. The letter will be arriving shortly for us to review and then <\/span>possibly send in support.<\/span>
\n\u2022 Wifi research is continuing and then will be sent off for an \u201cinternal process\u201d in Jan. & Feb.<\/span>
\n\u2022 The French Advisory Committee is recruiting (would like to include parents from the English <\/span>stream)\u2014anyone interested?<\/span>
\n\u2022 Talked about self\u2010regulation and how it links with Restitution (and Aaren\u2019s labyrinth idea)<\/span>
\n\u2022 The PAC webpage has had 738 page views (2300 since inception) with the most popular posts <\/span>being about Constable Matt and the student\u2019s art.<\/span>

\n\u2022 Jan. 7th is the Tolmie Board Office Meeting \u2013 everyone is welcome (Mercedes has the <\/span>2013\/2014 budget meeting schedule, so please see her for more information)<\/span>
\n\u2022 On Feb. 1st there will be a provincial funding announcement \u2013 will be asking for school boards <\/span>to pay for 1.3% of the teachers\u2019 pensions. Meeting on Feb. 6th to discuss.<\/span>

\n\u2022 Erin McTaggart, a Student Teacher in the Grade 3 class, will teach a lesson on <\/span>plant growth in the rain garden in February.<\/span>
